Gerry Morrison's Statement

I strive to capture moments when light is painting a scene or image in a unique or attractive way. Landscapes, people, a still life or flowers come to life with light and that is why I photograph. I am always looking. I call it "poking around".

I find scenes or Images where I live in Seattle, or south central Idaho and where I travel, often to the desert south west or to other parts of the world. I am always looking for a scene and often return many times until the light paints it as I imagined it. I'm also looking for people and still lifes.

The cameras, scanners and other image makers that I employ are my tools. I like them simple. I don't hesitate to use technology to adjust a digital image to reflect what I saw and felt, or imagined, just as I used to employ all of the darkroom techniques at my command to adjust a gelatin silver print for the same purpose.
